The Garretti presents as a firm with raspberry & cherry character and hints of lemon rind.
On the palate, the wine is intense and round with a lovely juicy palate that holds blackberry and violet notes. It provides great complexity, depth and a fine tannin structure.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (RP): 95
"The 2009 Barolo Vigneto Garetti comes from the lowest part of the vineyard. It shows great power and density with fleshy fruit, dried cherry and prune. The mouthfeel is round and dense, supported amply by the firm tannins at the back."
Antonio Galloni-Vinous (AG): 92
"La Spinetta's 2009 Barolo Vigneto Garretti bursts from the glass with juicy dark cherries, plums, cinnamon and white truffles, all supported by firm tannins that need a few years to melt away. Smoke, tar and incense add depth and gravitas. Tasted next to the 2009 Bordini, the weight and richness of Barolo is clearly evident in the glass."
