Angelo Gaja- the undisputed king of Barbaresco- and the man who dragged Piedmont into the modern world, is a legend in his own time and his wine is a fine representation as to why he is highly acclaimed.
The Sori Tilden vineyard was named after matriarch Clotilde Rey (daughter in law of Giovanna Gaja). Clotilde, lovingly referred to by the nickname Tildin, had a very strong personality and thus its only fitting that the wine from Sori Tilden also exhibit a strong personality.
Complex aromas of toast, minerals, sour cherries, cedar and spices are evident. On the palate, the wine is opulent and round, as is signature for all Gaja single vineyard wines. A wine of great finesse and an excellent expression of the land and the Nebbiolo grape.

The 2006 Langhe Sori Tildin opens with a gorgeous, nuanced bouquet that leads to an equally expressive core of ripe, red fruits. This medium-bodied Sori Tildin is the most focused and energetic of these wines. It offers exceptional length and a refined, polished close. As is often the case, the Sori Tildin is also the most delicate and feminine of the single-vineyard wines. This is a very strong effort even if the explosiveness of the finest vintages is missing.
