Cellar/Tasting Notes
Ruby red in color, with intense garnet reflections. The nose on this San Giuseppe is intense, packed with ample aromas of dried fruit, dried flowers and more ethereal notes of tobacco and liquorice. Full-bodied and harmonious on the palate, the wine is warm, rich, and soft in the mouth, smoothing the tannin with a pleasant long finish.
This wine would pair wonderfully with spicy red meat dishes as well as aged cheeses.
The wine is aged in Slovenian oak casks of different capacity for 4 years.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (RP): 92-95 "The 2004 Barolo Bricco Boschis Riserva San Giuseppe is darker and firmer than the Vignolo, but not necessarily more complex or pedigreed. A dramatic baritone voice prevails, as layers of ripe dark fruit blossom on the palate in a powerful expression of Barolo that is likely to require extended cellaring and a commensurate amount of patience. For now, it is another highly promising wine from Cavallotto.." Wine Spectator (WS): 94 "This bears the textbook "tar and roses" flavor profile, backed by some gripping tannins. A big wine, powerful and intense, this grabs your attention with its tobacco, spice and mineral aftertaste… Long aftertaste." |
