Marengo is one of the smallest estates in La Morra but Marco Marengo feels anything but inferior. He feels humbled to be among many acclaimed winemakers who also own vineyards in La Morra. The estate makes a small amount of modern style Barolo from their vineyards old vines- wine that is well-balanced, ample, intense and tannic.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (RP): 94
"The 2008 Barolo Bricco Viole shows the personality of the vintage and freshness of the site. Sweet red berries, flowers, mint, sage and herbs are some of the nuances that emerge from this chiseled, finessed Barolo. The cool weather personality of the year comes through in this vibrant, wiry Barolo. The Bricco Viole is a wine that needs to be served at the dinner table, where its energy and vibrancy will shine brightest. In 2008, the Bricco Viole is pure elegance."
James Suckling (JS): 92
"Beautiful core of ripe fruit here of dried strawberries and hints of black cherries. Full body, with a solid core of ripe tannins and fruit. Balanced and in check. Better in 2015."
