Angelo Rocca is a master of Barbaresco, producing beautiful wines that are wonderful young. He recently switched from barriques back to neutral oak which has done wonders for his Nebbiolo, now able to sing with huge cherry flavor his wines.
Albino Rocca Barbaresco Duemilanove 2009 is a smooth, round wine. Licorice and cherry stand out on the palate, then unwind in the long finish with notes of spice.
James Suckling (JS): 93
"Complex aromas of meat, spice, and plums follow through to a full body, with chewy tannins and a long, long finish. Tight and dense. Very well done for the vintage."
