The “Annata” is produced from Greppo’s Sangiovese vineyards between 10 and 25 years old. The “Annata” is aged 36 months in Slavonian oak casks. The basic characteristic of the Brunello of Greppo Biondi Santi is its longevity. The “Annata” type will age between 20 and 40 years.
The 2008 Annata has a complex aroma exhibiting notes of withered roses. On the palate, the flavor is harmonic with good structure. The wine is warm with both tannins and acidity in perfect balance resulting in a persistent and savory wine.

"The 2008 Brunello di Montalcino Annata is quite pretty in this vintage. It displays a classic profile of underbrush, tobacco, smoke, licorice and black cherries. The tannins are firm but nicely balanced. I expect the 2008 will drink well with minimum cellaring. It is one of the more open Brunellos I can remember tasting here. Still, there is plenty of Biondi Santi kick in the wine's acidity and tannin profile."

"A vivid red, courtesy of its high acidity, driving cherry and raspberry flavors to the long finish. Spice, briar and earth notes are complementary, and the conclusion mouthwatering."
