The "Bric Balin" is the jewel of the estate. Matured entirely in part-new barrique, it is an elegant, velvety wine with dense red fruits, cocoa and spice.
The color presents as a garnet red and the wine exhibits fine yet complex aromas of fruit, sweet spices and vanilla. The wine is dry and full bodied on the palate with a warm, rich mouthfeel. A harmonious, tannic wine with amazing persistence.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (RP): 94
"The 2008 Barbaresco Bric Balin wafts from the glass with crushed flowers, dried cherries, tobacco and cedar. It is less overt than the Basarin, with the structural components playing a greater role in the wine’s balance. The energy and focus here are both attractive, while the oak seems to have come down, all of which adds up to a wine with terrific overall balance..."
James Suckling (JS): 92
"Very ripe plum and hints of vanilla on the nose. Full body, with velvety tannins and an attractive finish of lightly toasted oak and ripe fruit. Needs another year or two of bottle age."
