The Butteaux exhibits a fresh nose with caramelised apple and toasted notes, alongside wet stone and forest floor aromas. The mouth is energetic with a delicious finish.

"Here too there is ample Chablis character on the green fruit, mineral reduction, iodine and tidal pool aromas. The medium weight flavors are a pretty combination of power and focus with the same good underlying tension and minerality found in the Montmains, all wrapped in a balanced and notably more complex finish. As is typically the case with Butteaux, this is not a wine of finesse but the flavor authority and punch are admirable."

"Crushed rocks, smoke, graphite and oyster shells all inform the 2012 Chablis Butteaux. A relatively large-scaled, powerful Chablis, the 2012 Butteaux possesses structure, depth and pedigree to burn. Saline notes and a hint of tangerine are layered into the textured finish."
