Cellar/Tasting Notes
Jean Louis Chavy is the 8th generation of his family to be making wines in Burgundy. He owns several parcels in Puligny, including a nice slice of the largest premier cru, Les Folatieres. Determined to make it on his own, he went solo in 2004 and has been making waves ever since. "It's early days... but his wines are, so far, very elegant," says Alan Meadows aka Burghound. "His Folatieres is delicious." Burghound (BH): 90 "... mineral-inflected lemon peel, menthol and spiced pear aromas…good richness but also fi ne detail to the rich, full and delicious middle weight flavor... mouth coating and balanced finish. This is pretty and complex." Jancis Robinson (JR): 17/20 "Quite sweet and floral and very charming, if young, on the nose. Firm and appetising. Pretty complete though also rather forward. You could drink this already! Lots of pleasure but this is a little worryingly forward." |
