Cellar/Tasting Notes
Those of us in the trade know that great white wines age magnificently. This seven year old white Burgundy is just coming into its own, showing stunning balance and concentration. If you've never tried older white Burgundy, this is what all the fuss is about.
Morgeot is one of the top two or three 1er Crus (climats) of the village. 'Clos de la Chapelle' surrounds on old Chapelle. Domaine Duc de Magenta is a superb Domaine exclusively vinified and distributed by Louis Jadot. Inside the "Morgeot" 1er cru vineyard, Duc de Magenta owns the Monopoly (sole owner) of the 'Clos de La Chapelle'.
The Chassagne Montrachet 1er cru Morgeot ‘Clos de la Chapelle' is a very well balanced wine, showing a lot of concentrated aromas of honey, white fruit and flowers. This wine is full bodied, powerful and rich.
Wine Spectator (WS): 93 "This has a little more of a hard edge to it, in the form of oak tannins. Yet the core is rich and creamy, with plenty of apple, peach, citrus and spice flavors. Has great length. Just needs some time. Best from 2009 through 2020."
