The 2011 Volnay Premier Cru Clos de la Barre is a fruity wine with vanilla and violet aromas.
A young Volnay is a perfect pair with roast meats and poultry while an older vintage will be excetional with richer red meat dishes and mellow chesses such as Brie, Chaource or Reblochon.

"Here too there is moderate toasty influence on the notably ripe, indeed almost liqueur-like aromas of red and black raspberry, cassis, plum and soft spice notes. There is a textured mouth feel to the supple, round and delicious middle weight flavors that possess a bit more verve before culminating in a firm, serious and solidly persistent finish. There is good balance and fine depth though note that this will need time."
