Cellar/Tasting Notes
Clos Saint Denis from Domaine Gagey is an elegant wine, with a nice ruby colour. It presents aromas of cherry and blackcurrent but also spices. The tannins are both powerful and subtle.
It will ideally match well with game and most cheeses from Burgundy. Stephen Tanzer (ST): 92-94 "Good bright, full red. Knockout deeply pitched aromas and flavors of plum, redcurrant, mocha, spices and earth complicated by a whiff of dried rose. Began atypically plump for young Clos Saint-Denis but gained shape in the glass, showing a restrained sweetness to its red fruit and soil flavors. Finishes expressive, ripe and long, with very suave tannins." |
