The Grands Echezeaux is a powerful wine with deep color, intense red fruits and spices aromas. It is a structured wine with a very nice balance.
The wine is best paired with red meat in sauce, marinated game or mature cheeses. Burghound (BH): 91-93 "Here too the wood treatment is modulated and allows the intensely spicy if restrained aromas of cool essence of red and black pinot fruit that complements well the suave, very round and delicious middle weight flavors that possess good energy. The mouth coating finish is actually no more complex than that of the Echézeaux though there is slightly better persistence. This too will require at least a decade of cellaring." Stephen Tanzer (ST): 92-95 "Good bright medium red. Medicinal cherry liqueur, red licorice and spicy oak on the nose. Then penetrating and intense but suave, with lovely sappiness to the flavors of raspberry, cranberry and flowers...." |
