Cellar/Tasting Notes
Louis Jadot Charmes Chambertin has a deep color and possesses intense aromatic bouquet reminiscent of blackcurrants and the berries of other little red and black fruits. When the wine has matured, it smells musk and fur, and often liquorice.
The powerful structure and perfumes of this wine require quite elaborate and strong tasting food : lamb, boeuf bourguignon, game, chicken in wine, game pâtés, strong cheeses (excluding blue veined ones). Burghound (BH): 91-93 " An extremely pretty nose exhibits a well-layered aromatic profile of liqueur of red berry fruit, earth and soft spice scents that is trimmed in just enough wood toast to notice. There is a seductive consistency to the solidly well-concentrated medium-bodied flavors that ooze a fine dry extract that helps to buffer the moderately firm shaping tannins on the attractively long finish. Like the Clos St. Denis, this is quite refined." |
