"A discreet touch of wood frames a strikingly layered, complex, ripe and intensely floral nose that also evidences a hint of animale and is followed by round, seductive and mouth coating broad-shouldered flavors that possess real size and weight as the amount of extract here completely buffers the otherwise firm structural elements on the explosive, long and mineral suffused finish. Lovely in every respect. Note that this is quite forward for a grand cru and particularly so for a Clos de la Roche, which doesn't detract from its quality but it would be fair to observe that this is not typical."

"Good full red. Captivating aromas of plum, red cherry, rose petal, spices and underbrush. Silky, suave and full but without any undue weight. Harmonious acidity gives this wine excellent definition. Finishes with fine-grained tannins and terrific rising length. Since 2004, this cuvee has been a blend of 40% purchased grapes from 50-year-old vines and 40% estate vines that are 20 years of age."
