Christian Serafin Les Cazetiers Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru France 2010 750ml
Burghound (BH): 91-93
Strong reduction makes the nose unreadable though there is first-rate density and complexity to the firmly mineral-inflected large-scaled flavors that possess a velvety mouth feel before terminating in a powerful, well-balanced and impressively persistent finish. This is almost always the best of Serafin's 1ers and the 2011 version is no exception. In a word, outstanding.
Stephen Tanzer (ST): 91-94
Bright, deep red. Enticing aromas of black raspberry, smoky minerality and musky oak. Rich, dense and sweet but juicy too, thanks to gripping acidity. Really sappy premier cru with captivating inner-mouth tension to the flavors of dark berries and soil-driven minerality. Finishes strong and long, with the firm tannins nicely supported by the wine's dense mid-palate fruit.
