In Burgundy, "no other property is more valuable than the vines," thus the Domaine des Hospices de Beaune is built, reflecting the multitude of the greatest terroirs of Burgundy and generosity.
Arthur Girard bequeathed part of his worldly goods to the Hôtel-Dieu in 1936. This included his properties in Savigny :Les Guettottes, Les Peuillots, Marconnets and bas Marconnets, Les Lavières, Charnières or Chaurières, or possibly Champs Charbons Fourches.
This Cuvée traditionally comes entirely from two 1st Growths : Bas Marconnets and Les Peuillets, which both run up to the commune boundary with Beaune. It is consequently more full-bodied in character than Savigny First Growths from the Vergelesses hillside, further north.
The 2012 Hospices de Beaune wine items are currently pre-order and will arrive Fall 2014.
