The Magniens are an old Burgundian family whose ties to the land run deep. From a very young age, Michel was a constant in his father’s vineyards and not much has changed. Michel and his wife, Dominique, founded their Domaine in 1967 and in 1993 Domaine Michel Magnien & Fils was created. Michel continues to work in the field while his son, Frederic manages vinification. The wines are vinified in a traditional manner with minimal new oak. These elegant wines are approachable in their youth but also carry the complexity to age beautifully.

"A particularly earthy nose of ripe and dark wild berries is both serious and quite somber at present. There is excellent verve to the quite finely detailed, linear and tautly muscular flavors which culminate in a linear, driving and moderately rustic and austere finish. This is robust but not daunting though moderate patience will be required."

"Perfumed nose offers black cherry, smoke and gibier. Silky on entry, then savory and energetic in the middle, with lovely mineral and floral lift. Still youthfully tight but finishes fresh, spicy and persistent, with an enticing gingery perfume. Excellent potential here."
