Simple – this is a village-level Vougeot, made outside the ‘Clos”, a Vougeot, but not a Clos Vougeot - and it’s an astounding bargain.
Christophe Perrot-Minot makes a wide range of wines along the Cote de Nuits in a flashy, appealing style. You don't often encounter village-level Vougeot, but this is a standout - deep, oak-inflected and captivating, full of sandalwood, dried heather, layered mineral and ripe, forceful red fruit. This is a bargain when compared to wines from inside the Clos. Perrot- Minot’s 2008 Clos Vougeot VV sells for $249.95 a bottle!
