At its peak the wine develops a smell of jams, cooked fruit, fruit jellies and wild berries, in both aromas as well as taste, that are completed by notes of forest floor, moss and game. This perfectly balanced wine ends on a spicy, mineral note followed by that of licorice.

"A subtle but not invisible application of wood serves as a backdrop for the ripe liqueur-like aromas of black and dark berry fruit. There is impressive power and scale to the big-bodied and solidly well-concentrated flavors that exhibit the classic minerality of a fine Corton-Perrières before culminating in a textured, dusty and mouth coating finish that delivers outstanding persistence. There is a trace of rusticity to the supporting tannins but as Corton reds typically go, this is actually on the refined side."
