Morrell & Company
I've been involved with wine most of my life. In fact, some people
might even say that wine is my life. My father went into the wine
business more than 80 years ago. In those days, most Americans were not
particularly interested in wine. It was enjoyed mostly by either the
very rich, or by working class immigrants who remembered the pleasure
of wine from the old country. Then came Prohibition and the Depression,
but my dad's business managed to survive both. After World War II, he
opened a retail shop in Manhattan, and as Americans began to appreciate
wine more, the Morrell wine business took off.
We've had a wine shop in Manhattan since 1947, now at one
Rockefeller Plaza, in the heart of New York City. Directly next door to
our wine shop is our wine bar - a great place to stop for both a
delectable meal and to enjoy a delicious glass of wine - perhaps to
taste something new. We offer over 100 choices of wine by the glass,
from inexpensive Côtes du Rhônes, to elegant Bordeaux, to very special
American Cabernets.
I invite you to visit with us at both our wine shop or our Morrell Wine Bar & Café.
Anything I can do to enhance your enjoyment of wine would give me enormous pleasure.
