WINE CLASSES & TASTINGS
Morrell Wine Classes are a fun and informative way to learn about wine, with topics ranging from introductory classes to move advanced tastings of specific regions, varietals, and vintages. Our atmosphere is always friendly and informal, encouraging questions and discussion throughout. In most classes a generous flight of wines are tasted and all attendees receive a book of tasting sheets, wine tasting guidelines, wine notes, and maps. We offer guests discounts on the selection of wines tasted, as well as other wines and spirits in the store. In addition to our small group classes, private classes and tastings are also available and are always tailored to suit your interests.
Classes are held at our retail location:
Morrell & Company Wine and Spirits Store
One Rockefeller Plaza (49th Street between 5th and 6th Aves)
New York, NY 10020
7:30pm to 9:00pm (unless otherwise noted)

Introduction to Wine
Our Introduction to Wine class offers guests a friendly and diverse approach for the wine novice. We cover basic grape varietals, flavor profiles, dominant regions, and learning to taste and analyze in a professional method. By learning to compare and contrast elements you can explore your tastes and buy with confidence.
This class is usually held on the first Tuesday of each month and is perfect for beginners and those interested in a basic informal tasting and overview.
Specialty Theme Classes
Offered on various Wednesdays and Thursdays of each month, the focus of our Specialty Theme classes changes regularly. In the past we've explored Barolo young and old, compared American Pinot Noir from Oregon and California, and taken a rare tasting flight of mature single-vineyard Burgundies. Prices vary with the quality of wines poured, and groups of three or more are eligible for 10% off the class price unless otherwise stated.
Class Gift Certificates
Available in denominations from $50 to $250, Gift Certificates are always a wonderful gift for the wine enthusiast looking to learn more.
Unless otherwise stated, we require two (2) business days of notice for a refund on class and event tickets. Credit towards a later class is available until 12pm on the day of the event. Any cancellations after 12pm on the day of the event will be subject to the full initial charge. Please contact Mark D. Smith at 212-378-6507 for cancellations or for more information.
The Morrell Wine Institute

Through this entity we provide ongoing wine education for the general public and private groups on a wide variety of affordable classes, ranging from introductory wine courses to those focussing on specific regions, tastings of one particular producer, and special advanced wine seminars with aged bottle selections.
Spring Classes & Tastings
All classes and tastings are held at Morrell Wine Merchants at One Rockefeller Plaza, on 49th Street between 5th and 6th Ave. For more information please call Mark D. Smith at 212-378-6507 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
