(The Bordeaux grapes Malbec and Carmenere are now rarely used in Bordeaux or in Bordeaux Blend's generally, except in South America.) Bordeaux Blends can also refer to Merlot and Cabernet Franc, which is common in St Emilion and Pomerol.

Charles de Sarpe 2006 St. Emilion 750ml

Cellar/Tasting Notes
The 2nd wine of fantastic micro-estate Clos de Sarpe rated 92-95 by Robert Parker for the 2006 vintage. "Clos de Sarpe is a wine for those with 19th century tastes, but it is impressively endowed, and one has to admire a proprietor who is willing to go back to the future and make a Bordeaux..

Chateau Bellevue Grand Cru Saint Emilion 2006 375ml Half Bottle
|   WA: 92-94   |

Cellar/Tasting Notes
RP: "This terroir is superbly situated between Beausejour Duffau and Beau-Sejour-Becot, with Angelus within shouting distance. Bellevue has been managed by Stephane Derenoncourt and Nicolas Thienpont since 2000, and when St.-Emilion does its next new classification (in 2016), I would not be..

Les Gravieres 2009 St. Emilion 750ml
|   WA: 93   |    WS: 90-93   |

Cellar/Tasting Notes
... the 2009 Les Gravieres is the best wine proprietor Denis Barraud has ever produced. Yields were not terribly low at 38 hectoliters per hectare, but this wine (made with 100% Merlot and finishing at just under 14% alcohol) has a spectacular, even flamboyant nose of pen ink, graphite, blackberry..

Tertre-Daugay 2009 St. Emilion 750ml
|   WA: 89-91   |

Cellar/Tasting Notes
"This excellent yet under-exploited terroir has produced its finest Tertre Daugay to date. The dark ruby/purple-colored 2009 offers loads of black raspberry, licorice, and black cherry aromas, medium to full body, silky tannins, a layered mouthfeel, and an expansive finish. It should provide..

Cellar/Tasting Notes
"Combines power & elegance. Big and dense, yet fresh and very pretty, marked by gobs of red fruits & a long, elegant finish brimming with hints of violets and wood. This is a 'wow' wine."

Chateau Destieux St. Emilion Grand Cru 2006 750ml
|   WA: NR   |

Cellar/Tasting Notes
"Kudos to proprietor Christian Dauriac (and consultant Michel Rolland) for this outstanding effort as well as for Destieux's recent upgrade to a Grand Cru Classe in the most recent classification of St.-Emilions (suspended in March, 2007 because of litigation). From a 45-year-old vineyard in..

Chateau Bellefont Belcier 2007St Emilion 750ml
|   WA: 90-92   |

Cellar/Tasting Notes
"A sleeper of the vintage, this impressive St. Emilion, made by Dominique Hebrard, exhibits a pure nose of red and black fruits intertwined with spice box, dried herbs, and subtle wood. Medium-bodied, beautifully concentrated, and pure with good acidity as well as ripe tannin, it should drink well..

Fleur Cardinale 2009 St. Emilion 750ml
|   WA: 94   |    WS: 92-95   |

Cellar/Tasting Notes
"A good value among over-achieving St.-Emilion estates is La Fleur Cardinale’s 2009. Composed of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, some of the abrasive tannins noticeable early on in this big wine (14.5% alcohol) are now sweeter and better integrated. Made from tiny yields..
