Fine Wine > Still > Tempranillo > Castilla Y Leon

Tempranillo is the staple grape of Rioja -- in the words of The Oxford Companion to Wine, "the Cabernet Sauvignon of Spain." To create greatness, Tempranillo is nearly always blended, usually with Garnacha (aka Grenache) and/or Carignan. Tempranillo is fast ripening, rather tannic and, unlike Cabernet Sauvignon, not that aromatic. It is rarely sold as a stand-alone varietal.

Telmo Rodriguez Dehesa Gago Toro 2011 750ml
|   WA: 90   |

Cellar/Tasting Notes
"The 2011 Dehesa Gago eschews oak - the wine is just put in the tank and then racked. It has a straightforward bouquet of blueberry, red cherries and a touch of balsamic that is well-defined and 'pert.' The palate is quite succulent and primal on the entry with lush blueberry and cassis notes. It..
