Riesling is "the true king" of the German wines grapes. Indeed, in no other wine growing area on earth does Riesling reach such heights of quality and sheer deliciousness as it does in Germany. German wines are also unique in that the grapes are picked at many levels of ripeness and maturity, allowing the wine makers to produce Rieslings ranging from dry (Kabinett), to medium- dry (Spatlese), to sweet (Auslese), to super-sweet (Beeren and Trockenbeerenauslese and Eiswein). There is a style of German Riesling for every palate.
