Cotes Du Rhone Rouge Janasse 2008 Rhone 750ml (147779)
Cellar/Tasting Notes From 50-60-year old vines, this wine has vibrant flavors of black cherry, raspberry, Provencal herbs, and white pepper. As Robert Parker points out: "The young and talented Christophe Sabon continues to display the sure-handed touch of a veteran winemaker". 2008 is another example of a great value Cotes du Rhone from Domaine Janasse.

Selection Laurence Feraud Cotes du Rhone Villages Seguret 2007 Rhone 750ml (142017) | WA: 90 |
Cellar/Tasting Notes Séguret is one of the very best of the Rhône 'Villages', but is far less known than Cairanne or Rasteau as it's about 1/10th the size. Quality is superb and Laurence has a long term agreement with one of the best growers, whose grapes she rescued from the local Cooperative. 90% Grenache, 10% Syrah. Pairs well with grilled meats or vegetables, seared tuna, or classic Provençal fare such as ratatouille or cassoulet.
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (WA): 90 "The outstanding 2007 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Seguret is a brilliant wine as well as a fabulous bargain. Aromas of licorice, lavender, cassis, and kirsch emerge from this dense ruby/purple-hued offering. Full-bodied and pure with the sweet tannins that make this vintage so impressive, it can be enjoyed over the next 5-6 years."

Cellar/Tasting Notes La Rosine is a bottling of pure Syrah from vineyards located between Cote Rotie and Condrieu and averaging 15 years in age. La Rosine displays the classic Cote Rôtie aromas and flavors of smoked meats, ripe plums and spice. This is an awesome entry level wine from the northern Rhone, at less than half the price of a good Cote Rotie.

Rasteau Les Argiles Bleues Beaurenard 2005 Cotes-du-Rhone 750ml (147771) | WS: 90 |
Cellar/Tasting Notes A selection of the best slope and terraced parcels, characterized by a marvelous blue-clay and chalk soil which imparts great depth and minerality to the wine. Varietal mix: 80% Grenache, 20% Syrah.
Wine Spectator (WS): 90 "Offers a delicious mix of raspberry, blueberry and boysenberry fruit, all layered with sweet spice, incense and mineral notes. Almost flashy, but this is kept honest by the racy, graphite-tinged finish. Drink now through 2010. 665 cases made." –JM
