Torrontes Crios de Susana Balbo 2009 Argentina 750ml (161647) | WA: 90 |
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (WA): 90 "The 2009 Torrontes remains one of Argentina's benchmarks for this variety. Sourced from 31-year-old vines in Cafayate (where the finest Torrontes grows), it displays a fragrant bouquet of spring flowers, honey, and tropical aromas. Medium-bodied and dry on the palate, it has ample fruit backed by vibrant acidity leading to a lengthy finish."

Clos de Los Siete Red Blend 2007 Argentina 750ml (161801) | WA: 91 |
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (WA): 91 "There may be no finer red wine value in Argentina than this superb blend of 48% Malbec, 28% Merlot, 12% Syrah, and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is aged for 11 months, two-thirds in 100% new French oak and the balance in vat and bottled without fining or filtration. Opaque purple-colored, the wine coats the glass while offering up a superb bouquet of toasty oak, violets, mineral, black currant, blueberry, and black cherry. This is followed by a layered wine with gobs of ripe fruit, a plush texture, outstanding balance, and several years of aging potential (not that many buyers will be laying this down). This lengthy effort over-delivers and then some."

Finca Decero Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 Mendoza 750ml (161906) | WS: 90 |
Wine Spectator (WS): 90 "The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Remolinos Vineyard is deep crimson-colored with an alluring bouquet of cedar, cinnamon, allspice, cassis, and black currant. Supple and elegant on the palate, it has excellent depth, grip, and a lingering finish. It too will provide pleasure over the next six years. Quietly, Petit Verdot has become a new darling of serious wine growers and aficionados because in regions where it ripens most of the time, it can be something quite spectacular."

Benmarco Malbec 2008 Argentina 750ml (161826) | WA: 91 |
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (WA): 91 "At the suggested price, it is a steal. The 2008 Malbec contains 10% Bonarda. It received the same oak regimen as the Cabernet. Dark ruby/purple-colored, it exhibits a kinky perfume of black cherry, wild black raspberry, earth notes, and leather. On the palate there is plenty of jammy fruit, bright acidity, excellent balance, and a lengthy finish. While it may well evolve for 1-2 years, it can be enjoyed now. It too is a great value."

Quimera Red Achaval Ferrer 2007 Mendoza 750ml (161634) | WA: 92 |
Cellar/Tasting Notes The 2007 Quimera is 37% Malbec, 28% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc. Unlike the 2004, it received only 40% new oak for 12 months. The fruit was sourced from several different appellations. The wine was aged for 12 months in 100% new French oak, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Opaque purple-colored, it delivers a super-expressive perfume of creosote, scorched earth, clove, licorice, black currant, and blackberry. Medium-bodied, intense, and beautifully balanced, the flavors are already offering complexity and serious depth. This well made wine could easily pass for a classified growth St.-Julien.
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (WA): 92 RP: "Really juicy red, with raspberry, red currant and boysenberry fruit flavors mixed with racy mineral, briar and floral notes. Long, mouthwatering finish brings you back for more. Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2008."

Finca Sophenia Synthesis Malbec 2006 Argentina 750mlFinca Sophenia Synthesis Malbec 2006 Argentina 750ml (161596)
Cellar/Tasting Notes A rich, deep purple in color, with an inviting violety, fruity nose, very fresh with vanilla notes. Malbec can sometimes be too earthy or leathery but the Synthesis had a nice balance of earthy minerality and fruit without being a fruit bomb. Full bodied with soft round tannins making for a velvety, smooth wine.
