SHERRY – the "forgotten" wine...
For decades, we've believed that Spanish Sherry is winedom's most overlooked gem, as few thinkof enjoying it! To break the syndrome, here is a lovely list of superlative, authentic Spanish Sherries from Jerez de la Frontera. Stop, read, and order a bottle or two for your bar. Once you have them in the house, you'll be much more likely to enjoy them.
Sherry types: Manzanilla &
Fino - both bone dry… serve them chilled as an aperitif; Amontillado - dry to just off-dry… serve with almonds; Oloroso - medium dry, wonderfully scented, generous in flavor;
Palo Cortado - medium sweet, rich and round; Cream - sweet and rich, perfect as an after dinner drink.
Moscatel, Pedro Ximenez & Tintilla de Rota – syrupy, intensely sweet and delicious; Montilla – Sherry-like and superb.
