Classic Cabernet Sauvignon, reaches its heights in Bordeaux and California. Lush and fruity Merlot excels in Pomerol and is usually soft and delicious. Zinfandel is quintessentially American. Rarely grown outside California, it is usually peppery and intense. Spicy, with generous fruit, Syrah excels in the Rhone Valley, California, Washington State, and famously as Shiraz, in Australia. Red Burgundy's famous grape, Pinot Noir, arouses passion like no other. Try Pinot Noir from Oregon and California compare styles. They are all magnificent. Chianti and Brunello are made from Sangiovese and it's bright strawberry aromas have made it a world favorite. Some of the best Italian wines are made from the Nebbiolo grape, such as Barolo and Barbaresco.

White Wines
White WineMorrell offers a vast selection of white wines from nearly every winegrowing region around the world. Click on the image to the left to see our entire white wine list, or click on a varietal from among these famous white wine types.
Chardonnay is the most famous white wine grape in the world. Sauvignon Blanc can be herbal, grassy or citrusy. We have great examples from France, California and New Zealand. Riesling is the great white grape of Germany. They can be dry or sweet, but are all superb. Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio are actually the same white grape. The Italian version is typically dry and light, others can be richer in flavor.

Champagne
Champagne There is no beverage that provides more pleasure than French Champagne! Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are the principal varietals from which all Champagnes are made, often with (a little help from) Pinot Meunier. The wonderful thing about Champagne is that it is made in a wide variety of styles from the light, delicate Blanc de Blancs to the creamier, more full bodied, Grand Marque and small grower, classic "House Cuvees."

Sparkling
Champagne All Sparkling wines including Cava, Prosecco, and Sparkling Rose.

Dessert Wines - Sweet Stuff For Your Palate And Your Soul

Dessert WinesWell made dessert wines are not merely sweet - they are fascinating, complex, delicious and deeply satisfying. Always drink them as dessert not with dessert! If you wish to serve edibles with dessert wines, salty cheeses, nuts and white fruits work best - perhaps a biscotti or two. We have divided our excellent inventory of dessert wines into several categories: Australian, Austrian/Alsace/German, Italian, North American and Sauternes. Most are offered in half bottles, the ideal format for dessert wine. There is a style here for every palate, a price for every pocket book.

Organic and Biodynamic
Organic and Biodynamic Wines Morrell & Company's Premier Selection of Organic and Biodynamic Wines:
It's all about Quality and Health!
As a wine lover you have probably heard about the Organic and Bio-dynamic movements in the making of wine. World-class estates and wineries such as Domaine de la Romanee Conti in Burgundy, Michel Chapoutier and JL Chave in the Rhone, Araujo, Harlan and Quintessa in California, Domaines Zind-Humbrecht and Marcel Deiss in Alsace, Foradori in Northern Italy and many others have become committed organic/biodynamic properties over the past decade. What's behind these developments and why should you care?
Put as simply as possible, both approaches are about working in the vineyard and in the winery to produce wines which are as natural, true to their terroirs and healthy as humanly possible. How is this achieved? In part, by the elimination of pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers in the vineyard with the goal of restoring to the vineyard its natural complexity and ability to fight diseases and promote the proper growth of the vine. The biodynamic approach carries the organic emphasis further by the use of homeopathic agents to encourage the production of aeration and healthy bacterial stimulation of the soils and by paying attention to the cycle of the moon in working the vineyards and vinifying the wines. Is this mysticism or ancient wisdom? Perhaps a little bit of both.
But as a consumer you will want to know whether this organic/biodyamnic approach produces better wines than the modern chemically - dependent methods. You will be delighted to learn that almost everyone involved in these twin movements - vineyard managers, wine-makers and above all wine tasters agree that the resultant wines are cleaner, purer, more aromatic, livelier and more complex than wines made in the chemically-supported manner. Wineries choosing to function organically or biodynamically must submit to a rigorous certification process. Over the next decade many of the world's finest wine estates will seek such certification. The evidence is irrefutable: naturally made wines are superior in both taste and in healthful properties.

Sake
Sake Sake, often called the "Drink of the Gods" by the Japanese, is a beverage created from rice, water, koji, and yeast, usually with an alcohol content of 15%-16%, just slightly higher than that of an average wine. Sake is brewed like a beer, but it is served and enjoyed like a fine wine.
The selection we are offering is complex, delicate, refined and delicious.
